BRANDON HAMMOND as “AHMAD” in SOUL FOOD (1997)
Most people remember BRANDON as “AHMAD” in the movie SOUL FOOD, but the young kid has been acting for years. In 1993 Brandon played YOUNG CAINE in MENACE 2 SOCIETY. He then got to star opposite some Hollywood heavy hitters such as, ROBERT DE NIRO & WESLEY SNIPES (THE FAN), ANGELA BASSETT (WAITING TO EXHALE). He also played a young MICHAEL JORDAN in 1996 hit animation film SPACE JAM. After he was in DR. QUINN MEDICINE WOMAN, & THE GREGORY HINES SHOW playing the son of the late GREGORY HINES. In 1998 he won an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Youth Actor/Actress beating out my favorite
child actress JURNEE SMOLLETT (EVE’S BAYOU).
SIDEBAR: I personally felt she should have won because she was just that great in the movie. Although I can watch both movies over and over again, I will stay up til 3 in the morning just to catch it on HBO, and watch it like it’s my first time seeing it. I say all that to say, EVE’S BAYOU > SOUL FOOD. I also swear that if it were 2005, & I had this blog up, she would have been on here too. She went MIA for a minute as well, and I’m glad she’s still acting. Y’all need to go see THE GREAT DEBATERS.
In 2002, BRANDON came back to the small screen in a SHOWTIME tv movie titled OUR AMERICA. Since then he’s been MIA. According to his MySpace page, he’s currently a college student, and is finishing his “general ed” at SADDLEBACK COLLEGE, and his planning on transferring to USC where he will major in film production.

I can’t wait until his big comeback(if that’s appropriate). He was such a talented actor when he was younger. His has to be out of control with the acting now.

i think that he should do whatever he want’s to it’s just that you were shotch a good actor durin the day i don’t known why he quit but that’s his biss… but people were write you were kind cute but it’s knot other people’s opinon you go by somtimes because it can lead you to trouble just like big mama said so if you by this message and what want to dew with your life. i would be delighted to see you get back in some of those movies and get back to doing what you did best. hit me up brandon
