Ah yes, I remember these boys. They came out in 1998/1999 under YAB YUM Records which was owned by TRACEY EDMONDS ex-wife to KENNETH “BABYFACE” EDMONDS. They came out at an awkward time. IMMATURE had things on lock as far as R&B boy bands were concerened, and there was also another group named IMAJIN that came out shortly before them. Anyways, these four boys (LIL MAN, KEVONTE, JAY-R & D-SMOOVE) came out with a song/video titled “IF EVER”. I remember it playing all over BET, but never heard the song on the radio.
The song didn’t seem to do too well, so they came out with another single titled “PARTY TONIGHT”.
This also didn’t do well, and didn’t get as much play on BET. Soon enough 3rd STOREE wasn’t heard of ever again, until…
They made a comeback at the worst of times, during B2K-MANIA in 2002. LIL MAN had either left or was dropped from the group, and there were 2 new members. There was a kid named GAVIN & another lead singer named J’SON. I remember this kid because he was a solo singer back in the mid-90s. I don’t remember if his album ever dropped, but I do remember his face.
3rd STOREE (2002)
(l to r) D Smoove, Jay R, Kevonte, J’Son & Gavin

J’SON – I’LL NEVER STOP LOVING YOU
The new group’s new song was titled “GET WIT ME” which featured up & coming NJ rapper JOE BUDDEN. There was also a cameo by MEGAN GOODE as well. I remember getting excited about this because I had liked the group from way back when, but they didn’t get a warm reception from the 106 & PARK crowd. I remember one girl sayin they were like a “bootleg B2K”. I don’t remember if they dropped an album this time around either, but you can click here to see the video for “GET WIT ME”.
Check out some updates of the boys under the cut.
Well like everyone else 3rd STOREE has a MySpace page with all of the members of the 2002 group (sans Kevonte) in the TOP 8. They’ve also changed their name to CHAPTER 4. hope that with the lack of updates on their page, that might be some indication of them being too busy makin their comeback.
P.S. What happened with KEVONTE & LIL MAN? If anyone knows about the boys, let me know. If not, then oh well. I liked them though. I thought they all were really talented.

Lil’ Man actually had a solo career poppin’ off (I know the videos are on YouTube. I’ll post the links if I find them.) It’s funny you mention B2K because Lil’ Man was in the group before Omarion. Kevonte is acting now. He’s on Everybody Hates Chris and I know he used to dance back-up for Missy Elliott.
